Before it appeared, foreign editions had been used to teach students to play clavichord, which limited the circle of those who had access to the instrument by the nobles who knew foreign languages. Until the beginning of the 19th century “Clavichord School” by G. S. Lehlein was the only keyboard musical instruments course book in the Russian language.
