a one-act ballet by Sergei Prokofiev, showing the new Soviet society in the pathetic spirit of the plant. The premiere took place in 1925 in Paris.
The ballet is devoted to S. P. Diaghilev who staged it.
The music of the ballet is based on the divertissement-suite principle: eleven dances follow each other in the contrast manner, presenting different groups of characters. The score of “The Steel Step” is the lifetime edition of the composer (1928). It is a rare book of real historical and cultural value.
